This petite vintage lamp is handwoven in wicker or rattan, with a wonderfully simple bell-shaped shade and pedestal base. Because it was made by hand, the weave is slightly irregular -- part of its character rather than a flaw.
When lit, the open weave casts a soft pattern of light and shadows around it. Its small size makes it a lovely piece for a bedside table, tucked into a bookshelf, or anywhere a room could use a little warmth.
Details: Vintage; rewired for the United States. One of two similar lamps available. Each is sold separately and varies slightly in shape, size and weave.

Collected Along the Way
We were walking home from the Place des Vosges on a cloudy Sunday morning when I spotted these on a sidewalk along the Rue de Rivoli in the Marais. The young woman selling them had a wonderfully eclectic collection of things, including these two wicker lamps and a small basket. I bought all three.
