French Fruit Compote
Vintage French Serving Piece
I don't usually stop for overly ornate serving pieces, but his compote was an exception. It is beauitiful piled high with fruit and nuts, or brought to the table for dessert. Left empty, it is just as lovely on a shelf or mixed among old French glass and silver. The soft, timeworn finish is what won me over.

I found this beautiful piece at the Saturday market in Villeneuve-les-Avignon. Sometimes I can be overwhelmed by tables filled with treasures, but this one caught my eye immediately. The soft, almost dusty patina was what made me stop.
