These might be one of my favorite finds. Six hand-embroidered French serviettes, each slightly different from the next. Three are finished in yellow, three in peach, with wonderfully cheerful embroidered flowers scattered across the set.
They aren't perfectly matched -- and that's exactly why I love them. The sizes vary slightly, the flowers change from one to another, and you can see the hand of the person who made them. Soft, generous and meant to be used, they make a table feel collected rather than composed.

Collected Along the Way
I found these at the Saturday market at Porte de Vanves. The woman had a table piled with old, beautiful kitchen linens -- most of them refined and quite simple. And then there were these. A little different, a little cheerful, and clearly made by hande. She seemed concerned that they didn't match perfectly. To me, that was the best part.
