I find old books at nearly every market, but this petite set stopped me -- the scale, the color, the beautiful old bindings. Six volumes of the The Count of Monte Cristo, they are wonderful stacked on a table, tucked onto a shelf, tied with ribbon or simply left as they are.

Collected Along the Way

I found these books on a cold and windy Sunday in L'isle-sur-la-Sorgue. The crowds thin in the Winter months and the vendors fill their tables with the loveliest things for the season -- old books, candlesticks, silver and small gifts. These six came home with me.
