It is increasingly hard to find a large sets of beautiful old French napkins in this condition. These nine are wonderfully soft and understated, with a delicate drawn-thread border and small embroidered monogram. Elegant enough for a beautiful table, but not too precious to use.

Collected Along the Way

I found these at the Foire de Chatou, tucked into a box of old table linens. The vendor was an older woman who watched over her tables with a cigarette in hand and an eagle eye. At first, she watched me carefully. Then she dug in and helped me find the beautiful ones, the perfect ones -- and the ones that came home with me.
