Large French Cutting Board

Late 19th --Early 20th Century

There is something particularly charming about an old cutting board -- the more it has been used, the better it gets.  This large French board, likely dating from the late 19th to early 20th century, has a wonderful flared handle and a surface marked by decades of kitchen work.

The scratches, knife marks, variations in color and worn edges are all part of its history.  I love these boards leaned aganist a kitchen wall, stacked with with others, or brought out for serving.

Sometimes the best treasure hunting happens on a cold and rainy Saturday at the Porte de Vanves.  The crowds are thinner, the vendors are friendly -- and usually quite ready to sell. No matter the weather, Kyle can always spot a cutting board. Or set of andirons.
