Set of Three French Pine Resin Pots

19th-Century Terracotta

These small terracotta pots were once used to collect resin from pine trees in France. Dating back to the 19th century, each carries the traces of its working life. The irregular surface, mineral deposits, old resin and deep patina make each one slightly different.

Originally utilitarian, they're beautifull little objects now: grouped on a table, holding a small plant or flowers, or simply left as they are.

Collected Along the Way

We found these sitting on the ground outside a store in the Marché aux Puces, Paris. I loved them immediately -- the size, the patina, and the fact that no two were quite alike. I brought them home thinking about table settings, little pots of flowers or even dotting a shelf. Each bears the marks of its former life, and those variations, wear and imperfections are exactly why I love them.
