I fell for this little gentleman immediately. Hand-painted on thin stone ground and set in an old oval frame, he is just the sort of small piece that gives a room personality. I love him hung above a light switch, tucked onto a narrow wall or added to a collection.

Collected Along the Way

I found him at the Saturday market in Aix-en-Provence. The vendor had a table filled with small paintings and portraits and brought out a jeweler's loupe so that we could look at them closely. He clearly loved his things. This one came home with me.
