There is something wonderfully homey about a proper gravy. It makes me think of a long table, something delicious being passed around, and people staying longer than planned.
This French one is especially lovely -- the delicate blue decoration gives it just enough ornament without making it feel precious. The gravy boat and under-plate are made as one piece, giving it a rather graceful shape. Use it for gravy or sauce, of course, but I also love pieces like this filled with a loose handful of flowers.

Collected Along the Way
I found this at the Saturday market in Villeneuve-les-Avignon. The vendor had beautiful things and happily shared stories about pieces he had found throughout the spring. I was glad that he found this one. It came home with me.
