Delicate French Table Linen
Four beautifully worked vintage French serviettes, each embroidered with a delicate floral motif and finished with fine openwork stitching. I loved the restraint of these -- white on white, beautifully made, and not a monogram in sight.
They are elegant enough for a proper table, but I wouldn't save them for one. Mix them with old plates and everyday glassware, use them for Sunday lunch, or put them out simply because they are lovely. Beautiful things are better when they are used.

I found these at the Saturday market at Porte de Vanves, on a table piled with old French kitchen linens. Most of the white serviettes were monogrammed, which is exactly why these caught my eye. The embroidery was quieter and a little unexpected. Four came home with me.
