Hush Hot Toddy + Candied Orange Peels

Candied Orange Peels

Makes about 2 cups

INGREDIENTS

  • 2 large oranges, 1/4 inch to and bottom cut off

  • 4 cups sugar, divided

  • 3 cups water

PREPERATION

Cut peel into long strips, about 1/4 inch wide. Cook in large pot of boiling water 15 minutes; drain, rinse, and drain again.

Bring 3 cups sugar and 3 cups water to a boil in a large pot over medium heat, storing to dissolve sugar. Add peel. Return to boil. Reduce heat; simmer until peel is very soft, about 45 minutes. Drain.

Toss peel and 1 cup sugar; transfer to sheet of parchment. Let stand on counter until the coating is dry, about 1 day.

Hush Hot Toddy

Serves 4

INGREDIENTS

  • 4 ounces bourbon

  • 3 tablespoons fresh lemon juice

  • 1/4 cup honey

  • 1 cup brewed Hush tea

PREPERATION

Place honey and lemon juice in a warmed tea cup.
Add hot Hush tea and stir until the honey is dissolved.
Add bourbon and stir.
